This is a short story that I wrote one day while I was watching Road To Albertane. I thought it was time someone wrote a fanfic where nothing sad happened, where no one died, no one had a drug addiction, no one got dumped by their girlfriend, I thought it would be nice if there was a happy story.

Anyway, this is fiction, although it almost definitely has happened, but I have no idea how Hanson feel in this situation, or indeed any of the people in this story. I have, unfortunately, never experienced this, but I wrote the story from how I invisage the feelings to be. Oh, and don't laugh at me for naming it after a Eurovision song, after all, the song did win!

Love Shine A Light

"Well I heard about the fella you been dancing with, all over the neighbourhood. So why didn't you ask me, baby? Didn't you think I could?….." Taylor's voice filled the arena, the excitement he felt was passed to the audience through his singing, and they all felt a small piece of the adrenaline rush he experienced every time Zac pounded out a drum roll behind him. He had done this so many times, sung the same song, in front of the same number of people, but every time it felt different, it felt just as amazing and just as exhilarating as the first time they had got applause from an audience.

Isaac couldn't wipe the huge smile off his face as he glanced across the stage at his younger brother, and felt the same thrill. Taylor was putting his all into this performance, and he was determined to do the same. He fought the urge to jump up and down, knowing that if he got too excited now, he would be knackered by the second song, let alone the end of the gig. He knew the music, and songs so well that he could play them in his sleep, and yet every time they performed, nothing could prepare him for the experience, and there was no way in the world that anyone could recreate it. People were here to listen to them, and he was loving every second of it!

Zac bashed the drums with relentless energy, the crowd's screaming and his brothers' excitement making it hard for him to keep the ecstatic yell that he was dying to shout inside. The kick he was getting from just being up on stage was amazing, he could hardly breath with happiness, the kind of happiness that you only get from doing something you really really love, that something that makes you feel closer to your friends or family as they share in your enjoyment, and that something that you will always remember, and always get a small experience of the thrill when you remember it.

Diana watched from the wings of the stage, and felt an uncompressible grin of pride flow into her face. She, too, felt some of the excitement that she saw in her sons' eyes, and her eyes glittered with happiness, and maybe even tears. They were her boys, up there. They were doing the most wonderful thing in the world, and they were so happy. Most of all, they were making other people happy, just by enjoying themselves. Just a glance at the mass of girls, and a thrill ran through her. Her sons, they were up there on the stage in front of hundreds of people who had come just to see them, and her boys had done it all themselves, with their own determination, and loyalty, they had managed to do this, to be here, and to give something to the thousands of fans, something only they could. As she watched, her mind wandered to distant memories, of Isaac, seven years old, running up to her excitedly announcing that he had written a song. Of Taylor, blond-haired angel, eleven year old blue eyes glistening with indescribable happiness as he stood for the first time behind his new keyboard. Zac, nine and happy, grinning as he ran through the crowd of girls, to confidently drag one up to the stage, wanting to give her, a total stranger, a share of his excitement. Diana had watched them grow, watched the music grow, and still she could hardly believe that it was her sons who were up there. Years of concerts, amateur, and lately professional, and still they were beautiful. Her boys were growing up, two of them were fast approaching adulthood, and yet, she still felt the same as she had the very first time, when she had seen her six, eight, and eleven year olds stand up in front of Walker's workmates, and sing, voices like angels, they still sounded that way, different, but still just as beautiful. Diana was almost literally glowing with the overwhelming pride. Those were her boys!

Jessica sat cross-legged on the floor a few feet behind her mother, fiddling with a piece of long blonde hair. She wasn't looking at her brothers on the stage. She didn't need to, she could tell by their voices how they were feeling, and it stirred the familiar chord in her heart. She tried to pretend that she wasn't bothered whether she watched them perform or not, she'd seen it so many times, it felt like she had been watching them perform all her life. She pretended not to care, and even convinced herself that it wasn't anything amazing, and she didn't need to watch every night, but somehow, every night she found herself here, and every night, as soon as she heard Isaac strike up the first chords of Gimme Some Lovin', heard Zac's hyper cry to the fans, and heard Taylor's voice begin to sing, she knew that she would never have it any other way. They were the same voices as she had listened to sing her lullabies when she was a baby, and sing little songs for her when she was sad, and even just sing quietly to themselves as they sat at the kitchen table doing algebra. They were the same voices that had comforted her, and made her laugh all through her life, and there was something deep inside that always surfaced when she heard them sing like this, something that made her experience a rush of affection and love for her older brothers. No matter how much she told herself she wasn't bothered whether they sang or not, the moment they began to perform, she felt the love, and the thrill that they all felt, and she knew that no matter what happened, there would always be her brothers, and there would always be the music, and she would always be happy.

Christopher watched from the edge of the stage, arms folded contentedly across his chest, leaning against the wall, smiling to himself. He had known they would pull it off, they always did. Despite having to deal with last minute nerves, and panic attacks, he had always known they would do it. Ever since he had first met them, he had known they could pull it off. At first he had been a little unsure, but as soon as he had seen that very first public performance, he had been convinced. These boys could do anything. He tapped his foot in time to the beat. Isaac glanced at him from the stage, and he gave him a thumbs up, Isaac turned back to his guitar, beaming. Chris chuckled softly, they were amazing, they were the most amazing people he had ever met, and they didn't even know it. He hoped they would always be like this, no, he knew they would. Nothing could take away the miracle-like quality of those three boys on the stage, he just hoped he would be able to be there the whole time. He had met them only a few years ago, but it seemed like they had been a part of his life forever, he couldn't imagine life without Isaac's thoughtful guitar strumming, Taylor's quiet, shy, leadership, and Zac's unpredictable hyper moods. They were more than just a band who he made money out of, they were a minor miracle, for everyone concerned, and as he stood there, watching, feeling the kick they were getting, that he was getting just watching, Christopher was so glad he was a part of it. Sometimes he wished he had never met them, when one of Zac's water balloons got dangerously close, or when he had to deal with a sobbing, desperately homesick blond child, but when he saw them play, it made up for everything. And he knew those boys were special. Those boys could do anything.

The girl in the fifth row wiped at the tears of exhilaration that were streaming down her face. She was grinning uncontrollably, the joy that she felt was impossible to compress. She was here, actually here, standing just metres away from the people who had changed her life. The emotions she felt right now were indescribable. She felt so happy, so excited, so amazed, so overwhelmed, and even proud. Her friends said they couldn't play, they said they couldn't sing. Her mother said it was a phase, that she would go off them in three months. But they were here, and they were proving everyone wrong. The songs she knew so well, that she had listened to so many times that she knew every little rise and fall of the voices, were being played out in front of her, by the very people who she had idolised for so long. The feeling in her heart was one of complete and utter bliss. They were here, and she was here, and this was the best night of her life. She felt the anticipation of Taylor's voice as he led Isaac into the guitar solo, and the sheer thrill of being there was transferred from Isaac to her in just a second as he caught her eye while he scanned the crowd. She felt the energy and excitement pounding through the steady drum beat, and most of all, she felt the love that each brother was passing between them, just by playing TOGETHER, making it work, singing in harmony. The words they were singing had come from the heart, and they were giving her, and all the others around her, a piece of them. It was the most amazing feeling she had ever experienced, and although she knew it was nothing to even compare to what the three boys on the stage were feeling, it gave her a glimpse of them, of their lives. Maybe she would go off Hanson in a month's time, maybe even tomorrow, but she would always have the memory of tonight stored in her mind, and, once in a while, she would remember, and no matter how long it had been since she even thought of the three boys she had once loved so much, she would always feel the same thrill of happiness and excitement that was running through her at this precise moment, and she would always remember how the music had brought her so much happiness. Another wave of excitement ran through her, and she couldn't hold back the scream which was dying to come out of her mouth. She hoped they heard, and she hoped with all her heart that just by doing that small gesture, she had given back some of the happiness they had given her. It was the best night of her life, and she would never forget it.

Taylor collapsed exhausted into bed, not even bothering to change clothes. His blond hair lay across the pillow in silken strands, and his baby-blue eyes took one last look around the hotel room before they closed, and he fell into a deep sleep. He was dreaming of the concert, of how amazing it had felt. It was what he loved to do so much, and he was so happy that other people were enjoying the music. He knew that he and his brothers were making people happy, but as he lay asleep, innocent sixteen-year old face gently smiling as he dreamed, little did he know, and he probably would never know, exactly how the simple act of doing what he loved was bringing so much joy to more people than he would ever realise. They had a gift, and they were using it to make people happy. And that is the most important thing that anyone can ever do.

"Love shine a light, in every corner of the world,

Let the love light carry, let the love light carry,

Light up the magic, for every boy and girl,

Let the love shine a light, in every corner of the world.

And we're all gonna shine a light together,

All shine a light to light the way,

Brothers and sisters, in every little part,

Let our love shine a light, in every corner of our hearts."
